RAB
The Registrar Accreditation Board was established in 1989 by the American Society for Quality.  Its original mission was to provide accreditation services for ISO 9000 Quality Management Systems (QMS) Registrars.  The new organization was structured as an independent legal entity. RAB is governed and operated independently from ASQ.

American Society for Quality
is a society of individual and organizational members dedicated to the ongoing, development, advancement, and promotion of quality concepts, principles, and techniques. That’s the official line. But don’t get the idea ASQ is just for quality engineers or auditors. ASQ has products, services, and–most of all–information to help people in all walks of life grapple with perplexing issues like total quality management, benchmarking, productivity, and more.

ANSI
American National Standards Institute promotes the use of U.S. standards internationally, advocates U.S. policy and technical positions in international and regional standards organizations, and encourages the adoption of international standards as national standards where these meet the needs of the user community.

NIST
The National Institute of Standards and Technology is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration. NIST's primary mission is to promote U.S. economic growth by working with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards.
