Grim Buck Tails

Once upon a time... a herd of deer lived in a lush coastal pasture. They were loyal to their leader because he was kind, shared the grass and helped them to plant more, which gave them security and made them prosperous. He became known as Deer One. Since the herd had plenty, they shared with other smaller herds in the community. And all was well.

Deep in the neighboring forest lived another herd. Their leader ruled by wielding his rack of authority. He ruled many and consumed all the green grass he could hold, without considering the needs of others. His gaunt herd struggled to find more grass as he binged. He became known as Big Bad Buck.

One day Big Bad Buck wandered into the coastal clearing. He eyed the healthy herds feeding on their beautiful green pastures. He immediately began plotting to take control. Why, he could take over this herd and have all the grass for himself!

Big Bad Buck slyly convinced the beloved Deer One that he could increase grass production and help all the herds in the community and the whole world! Deer One wanted the best for everyone and unwittingly agreed. After taking control, Big Bad Buck took all the grass he could. If he had to share, it would be with the deer from the new lands that expected less...then he could really binge. And that’s what he did!

Big Bad Buck recruited herds from other lands that had no established or plentiful green pastures. He got fatter and continued to consume more with his insatiable hunger. The costal herds now look like his original deprived herd. He gave the world-wide herds sparse pastures ... just enough so they could survive. And now Big Bad Buck has it all!

THE END

The moral to this Grim Buck Tail: depending on Big Bad Buck does not always improve the quality of the herds.
